Bible Heros: Eve part 2

Bible HERoes – Eve. Part 2

Ladies…As women we have been mandated with a spectacular and unique call from God right!!!?. It is powerful and dynamic and this week we are going to look at what Eve has to teach us as the first woman called of God.

Adam named Eve (means living), because she would become the mother of all the living. Gen 3:20

Ok, so it is important to remember that when Adam named Eve at this stage of the Genesis account there has been no child born to Eve as yet. Adam was in fact prophesying the purpose of Eve into existence at the very beginning of humanity. He was foretelling that she would be the mother of all living!

I believe this is the intent for all women that are in Christ. I believe that Adam was prophesying through time, through the cross to you and to me and declaring our true purpose in God. That we would become a mother to all living.

This means we are called to lead, nurture, protect, build and sustain all that are living

As women we have been made in the image of God and our reflection is to have an impact on the planet both at a micro and macro level. Whether that be in politics, the environment, humanities, the arts, sports, business, as entrepreneurs, mums, ministers, in our communities locally and/ or globally, we are to take on the call to become mothers.  Another way to look at it is that we are called to reflect the female aspect of God. Let’s read in scripture and learn some of what it means to reflect the mother aspect of God.

Hosea 11:3-4 – God described as a Mother who teaches, nurtures, heals, leads, loves, is kind and sustains.

God: “Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I who took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with bands of love. I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them.”

Hosea 13:8 – God described as a mother bear who is fierce, strong and on the offense

“Like a bear robbed of her cubs, I will attack them and tear them asunder…”

Deuteronomy 32:11-12 – God described as a mother eagle who nurtures, protects, teaches and leads.

“Like the eagle that stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young, God spreads wings to catch you and carries you on pinions.”

Deuteronomy 32: 18 – God who gives birth to new plans and purposes

“You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.”

Isaiah 66: 13- God as a comforting mother and a place to turn in times of trials

God: “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted…”

Isaiah 42:14 – God as a woman in labour

God: “For a long time I have held my peace, I have kept myself still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labour, I will gasp and pant.”

Matthew 23:37 & Luke 13:34 – God as a gatherer & leader.

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”

Proverbs 31describes wisdom as a woman! Have a read through that proverb and be encouraged that as women we have been born to exude wisdom, understanding and knowledge to the planet.

Gen 1:28tells us that the intention of God for us is that we are living blessed, being fruitful and multiplying in influence. It tells us that our role as those who are created in the image of God is one that incorporates us to rule as mothers of all living! Then to concrete this we are then told in Romans8:17 that after the resurrection of Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that we are co-heirs in Christ! This is very good ladies!!!

1 Peter 2:9 We are women in relationship with the King of the earth and he has called us to be“a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”

We as mothers of all living are called today to advance and expand in all spheres of life - in business, in ministry, in our communities, in our households and families. We are called to have influence, to lead, to build, to rule under the lordship of Jesus, to dominate with kindness and love. To be strong in faith and in the spirit and to be humble at the feet of Christ as His devoted disciples. TO LOVE AND LIVE BIG.

God commissioned Adam and Eve to go into their world and make an impact and the same commission is being given to us today…. Are you living a life where you are fulfilling the call to be an Eve in your world? Are you living like a woman that is bringing the feminine image of God to your sphere of influence?

“Lord, we want to be in line with your grand and perfect plan for our lives. Lord you are asking us to be a reflection of you in this world that is hurting and broken and looking for answers. Help me in my daily walk to say yes to you and the plans you have for my life. In Jesus name amen!”
